Uploading a collection of animalizations of Bleach

Posted under General

The website http://www.artoholic.org/BLEACH/dog.html has a collection of amusing images of Bleach characters depicted as dogs. Their appearances and personalities are adapted very well into the canine bodies.

There are 33 images, from the sections "KARAKURA TOWN", "Urahara shop", "Vizored", "Arrancar", "SOUL SOCIETY" and "Rukongai". I'm not counting the additional section "GROUP/MISC ILLUSTRATIONS", because it just contains some of the same dogs, in doodles of lesser quality.

post #53899 is a collage of some, but not all the images from that list. It was uploaded many years ago, before some of the characters in question were even introduced in the manga. Obviously, some of these dogs were drawn after the collage was uploaded here, so my idea is technically just updating our coverage of the work of emlan, the author.

My question:

  • Can someone please accept them if I upload them all?

My idea is just uploading each and every image as a separate post. I don't intend to make an updated collage of all images together, because I'd have to zoom to see the result. But, if people decide making a collage is a good idea, I'd volunteer to do it, with pleasure.

For the record...

MINOR EDIT: I'm just fixing the number of uploads. I said "34" earlier, but "33" is the accurate number.

as far as I know, if no one says no, its considered a informal go-ahead.

In a couple of hours, I could help, but I'd wait until someone important comments on this.

You can also contact janitors directly and explain to them what you are looking, generally speaking, they are willing to help out providing you aren't demanding or suggesting something that is clearly stupid.

When I search for "kurosaki_ichigo" I would not expect to see a dog. Not to mention that it isn't immediately obvious what the dogs are supposed to be, without contextual commentary.

Images are also lowres and not particularly good art. Just my 2 cents though.

That seems like a rather silly reason to be against uploading them. I might as well say, "When I search for yakumo_ran I wouldn't expect to see a cell phone charm, so don't upload post #884039.

This is a reasonable reason, though.

It just seems like uploading separate images for something like post #669778 to me.

They may be modeled after Bleach characters, but really, they're all just dogs with markings on their fur.

IAWTC. Looking at some of them, they just look like... dogs. And the art is low res and honestly, low quality. Oh well, not my decision.

The post you mentioned is a collage of many Touhou characters transformed into shrimp. Each of them is drawn in a much more simplistic manner than the images of dogs I suggested to upload. The artistic value of each Touhou shrimp is clearly centered around translating very well the characters into animals, rather than around being big and complex drawings. The artistic value of the image as a whole is centered around depicting the collection, thus being a big and complex drawing as a result.

These could be arguments in favor of just uploading a big collage of the Bleach dogs together and nothing more.

These possible reasonings would also perfectly justify the existence of the following collections of animalizations:

Relatedly, this collection of sexual positions is very simplistic and beautiful, too.

And, this pool of personifications of Pokémon shares the simplicity and high quality I see in the other images, despite being a collection of many individual images rather than being a big collage.

I think the differences are that the other animalizations are pretty obvious, while those Bleach ones tend to require someone to read the tag to find out what it's supposed to represent. If the subtitles weren't there, I would never have thought that they were supposed to be Bleach characters, whereas in the Touhou animalizations their accessories and styles obviously point to their character, assuming one knows them.

And, in my opinion, there is an inherent difference between animalization and personification.

I personally don't have a problem with the Bleach animalizations, though I do think this sort of thing does work better as a collage than a ton of separate pairs. In my opinion they are generally distinct enough (especially when together) to tell what they are, and on-topic enough to be relevant to the site. They may not necessarily be popular, but I don't think they're unsuitable. They are better than many of the Touhou animalizations IMO, but then Touhou frequently makes people quality-blind for some reason.

Even if personifications and animalizations are different things by definition, I am sure they follow the same rules. Simply put, we have posts that fit in any of the 4 possible groups:

  • collages with many personifications together
  • collages with many animalizations together
  • posts with only one or few personifications
  • posts with only one or few animalizations

I got some examples.
