Is it just me, or do the reduced-resolution samples of highres posts look a lot worse than they used to? I've noticed they look very blurred and usually have aliasing problems for images with heavy lines. Pretty annoying. Is it some kind of compromise to reduce server load?

Especially the last one, the line along Madoka's chin is badly aliased in the sample. Resizing the images using Photoshop's default resizing settings produces a vastly superior image.
I don't think that's a recent thing.
I've seen quite a few pictures where the line work looks bad in the sample, but not in the full size.
Going through random highres posts I found e.g. post #866400, post #826323, post #825715.
