Futari_wa_PreCure tag -> Pretty_Cure tag

Posted under General

Since Futari wa PreCure/Pretty Cure tends to specify the first/original show, and the series has gone by Pretty Cure/PreCure for some time now, I've been trying to fix the tags (adding Pretty_Cure and PreCure, as well as removing Futari_wa_PreCure).

But all the shows are somehow tagged Futari wa PreCure, and whenever I edit, it's not changing the Futari wa part.

I hoped for a change of tag, but I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if it's something I can't fix because it's been set.

There's an implication in place to futari wa precure rather than pretty cure. I don't think jxh wants to move the tags around *yet again* though.

For the record I've found pretty_cure as a better umbrella (and it's what we use on 3db) even if the series are all *precure because it conveys the idea of being an umbrella rather instantaneously.

Ahh, I see.

Yeah, I think pretty_cure does and would work best (we go by pretty cure at the lj comm too). I think having precure added wouldn't be bad, but pretty_cure is the best fit, for sure.

But that is the name of the first series, so I don't know what else it would go by. (Futari_wa_ PreCure and Pretty_Cure direct to the same search mostly, one just has two pages while the other has 100+.)

We made a conscious decision to favor precure over pretty_cure for the tags.

There shouldn't be anything under pretty_cure, as it's not a tag in use. Would make sense to alias it to to futari_wa_precure though.

For the first season it might make more sense to just qualify it futari_wa_precure_(original) or _(1st) or whatever, if we want to distinguish it. Which we (and by we I mean not me) probably should. It'll be all manual fixes though.

It would probably make more sense to use futari_wa_precure for the original series when we get the chance, as after the 3rd show the "Futari wa" part is dropped from the titles. I don't know much of the series, but I am aware that the first 3 series occur chronologically and are connected with each other.

I think favoring PreCure over Pretty_Cure isn't bad, but I just want to put it out there that fandom tends to realize it as Pretty_Cure and that's what the series goes by (so that's what people think of first to search it, and PreCure is just used when shortening it in name).

Aliasing to Futari_wa_PreCure doesn't necessarily make sense for th whole series. And adding original or 1st to the tag just makes searching for tedious. And it's as NWF Renim says, after the first two shows, the other three stop using Futari wa in their title, so the Futari wa as a title and tag is misleading (and incorrect).

I agree with NWF Renim again though. Using Futari_wa_PreCure for the first/original series is ideal and makes the most sense.

It's aliased so they can search for either and get the same tag.

It's just a matter of having to move the thousands of posts and many tags yet again, and hoping nothing breaks along the way. The alias/implication bugs seem to be mostly ironed out but I know at least one job task has crapped out since then, so I'm hesitant.

Alright, that makes sense.

And that's understandable. If it could be done manually, I wouldn't mind going through them and fixing them (I started to), but I do it seems it can't be done that way. I think it might be worth it to try, but I do understand being hesitant to do so at the time.

To go with the band-aid solution, you could probably go ahead and add a futari_wa_precure_(1st) tag to the images that are applicable to such a tag. During the transition having them already tagged with something would make the transition easier I'd think. Could shift the implications and alias over and then just mass edit what is under the tag to the new tag and then mass edit what is under futari_wa_precure_(1st) to futari_wa_precure once it's open.

Well they can't be done manually because of the aliases.

If you want to go add futari_wa_precure_(1st) or something to all the first season's images (although I don't remember if you can use tag scripts as a Member level user... if you're going to do this I wouldn't mind temporarily making you Priv until you're done, then reverting back to Member), we will then at least have them all grouped in one place.

Then we could:
1) Remove all aliases/implications
2) Nuke futari_wa_precure
3) Sacrifice virgins to the gods and hope the alias deletion cache bug is dead
4) Alias futari_wa_precure_(1st) to futari_wa_precure
5) implicate all the various series to an umbrella precure tag

Edit: beaten by nwf.

I'm assuming you don't really mean "aliased" because that would be a very bad idea.

Correct, and I stand corrected.

And it's the same situation as the Precure tags. That is, there's no tag specifically for the first season.

The first season should probably just be given a qualifier tag.
mahou_shoujo_lyrical_nanoha_(original) or something to that effect.
