Newbie: Blacklisting doesn't seem to work

Posted under General

I have a normal account and wanted to search for cute anime-type pictures that are "work safe". I thought I could do this by listing tags like "nude" "panties" etc. on my blacklist, but this doesn't seem to block the posts. Any suggestions?

First thought: you should not be relying on blacklisting to filter out NSFW, as the result will depend on the tag completeness of each posts.

I just did a quick check and the blacklisted tags are in effect. Perhaps the option is only available to privileged accounts. Albert tweaked quite a few things 4 days ago.

Blacklisting should be available to anyone with an account. Some questions:

1. What browser?
2. Are you getting any JavaScript errors?

Firefox 2.0.0.11
Running on Kubuntu Linux (although I doubt that would make a difference)

No discernible JS errors.

I did some more troubleshooting. It seems that the blacklisting works sporadically. I looked at the same page with and without the blacklist tags and some are indeed removed. I added a relevant tag to an image, refreshed, and it too was removed.

But if I search, or if I go back through some older posts, some images with those tags come through (I double checked to see that the images indeed had the specified tags.)

Any thoughts? Is there a limit to the number of tags I can specify? Currently I have about five.

So far blacklisting "rating:q" has worked the best (since I only have a normal account I don't see the explicit, I guess). Using rating:q and rating:e only filters some, for some reason.

In fact, whenever I put more than one tag on the blacklist, that's when it seems to have troubles.

Just a thought, is this anything to do with the 3 tag search limit?

AFAIK normal accounts have a limit of 3 tags to search at once. Could that mean that when you search for two tags and have two in the blacklist that it cuts the last one on your blacklist?

Although I imagine you're just browsing through the list... Well, as I said it's just a thought.
