Tag alias: shoji → shouji

shoji (7) is a common English spelling for shouji (68).

Could there end up a case, such as with an artist, where the characters when properly translated come out as shoji? I can't really comment all that much, given that I don't really know Japanese, just that it kind of seems like aliasing bit to bite.

If there is no reason to maintain a shoji tag, then I don't see a problem with an alias.

I went ahead and edited shoji → shouji.

If there ends up being an artist, character, etc. that qualifies for the shouji or shoji tags (all too likely), then a qualifier can be added to differentiate.

Bottom line: we should just cross that bridge when we come to it.

Looks like there are some words that would be legitimately romanized as short-vowel 'shoji', and thus could be used as artist names:

しょじ [所持] (n, vs) possession, owning
しょじ [諸事, 庶事] (n) various matters, everything

So let's go with sgc's solution.
