Tomodachi Life Outfit Tags?

Posted under General

So Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream recently came out, resulting in a (currently) small yet steady post explosion on here. However, it is because of that "steady" part that I wonder if it might not hurt to create tags for outfits that are popular to draw characters in that cannot be covered by other tags.

For example, I was thinking about the outfit featured in post #11284385, called the "Over-the-top outfit" in-game. You see it periodically on characters like Ralsei such as in post #11257705, and cannot be easily covered by a simple tag like the ridiculous car costume in post #11252451. Would a tag for the Over-the-top outfit as a gentag be helpful to anyone? Or is it too early to tell right now?

I can't seem to find any Japanese sources offhand, though I know the name in English is correct as I double-checked my own copy of the game for that name.

I have no idea if that is also what the outfit is called in other regions. Which does raise a good point on what version do we favor...We do traditionally favor the English name at least for Nintendo properties that are localized, which would be my gut idea, but I'd like someone with a Japanese copy to confirm too.

Thanks! Idked on the Japanese sources lol.

It would be crazy to not use the localised names for tag names. "Tomodachi Life" is the localised title anyway.

Yeah exactly lol. I guess the question is to gauge differences? Though I assume most people using Danbooru are going to use the English names anyway...

I wasn't talking about using the Japanese names over the localized ones, but rather on what the Japanese names tell us about what general tags can be used instead. Because if it is lolita, it can be tagged with lolita fashion, and if it is the only lolita outfit in Tomodachi, you should just be able to do tomodachi_life:_living_the_dream lolita_fashion to find it, thereby removing the need to make a costume tag for it.

Fair enough lol. And yeah, this looks like lolita fashion to me alright. I can't think of any other outfits that could have the tag as well, which means a tag ain't necessary if we can slap that tag on 'em.

The thing with Tomodachi Life is that it has different English localizations between the US and UK/AU versions. The names of the personality types and some events are different but I don’t know if that extends to the items as well.

There's the "High-waist pinafore dress" but you can just slap that one with classic lolita and any posts with the over the top outfit with sweet lolita so they're still both pretty searchable without their own specific tag needed.

Yep yep. As long as it's easy to search "Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream + X" on any outfit, a tag shouldn't be necessary.

Another point against making outfit tags I think. My copy is the American version, but I'm well aware of differences in the European version and so on, which no doubt extends to items too.
