Search took too long when uploading content

Posted under Bugs & Features

Hello everyone,

Recently I started getting a few messages about "search taking too long" just after I clicked upload, voiding all the tagging I have done for the post. Now I know that people of the member rank can only have searches up to two seconds, however I don't really think uploading an image has anything to do with a search?

Edit: Here's the most recent post I've got this message with: post #11234369

Whenever a timeout happens, whether it's a search timeout or otherwise, it shows the same search timeout page. So the server timed out while trying to upload the post.

This actually happened to me too a few hours ago, and it's the second time now that I've gotten a timeout just for trying to post something.

Just to load this page it took quite the time and I see a sudden decrease in approval rates of the last hour so I guess something site-wide is going on. Thanks for informing and letting me know about it.

This has happened to me a couple of times in the last few weeks. Iโ€™m in the habit of hitting ctrl+a, ctrl+c whenever it lags after I post, just in case.

I started to develop that habit too in the recent times, I guess we have to be careful about it going on forward. I can't help but wonder though since the search time of Gold+ members are longer if their uploads are also affected the same way (less prone to timing out ๐Ÿค”)

For me when this happens, just refreshing the page (F5) is enough for it to try and resubmit the upload, idk if this is just a Firefox thing though.

Huh, that sounds interesting... I also use Firefox and I've always went back a page which would reset my tag list, however I will definitely give this a try next time, thanks for the tip!
