What is the general consensus on posting content from deleted accounts?

I'm curious what people think about this, as sometimes I will find an artist that has their pixiv (or equivalent) completely wiped, but some of their work has not been posted on danbooru. This could be free work, or perhaps work found on their fanbox.

From what I understand, usually posting paywalled content is looked down upon, as the artist did not want that shown, but in cases like this, someone might have backed up the art before they wiped the paywalled site.

For free content that was deleted on the original site, I only really have a question of whether there is a fair way to post it here, perhaps including a source?

As for stuff from paid sites, the back-ups of the art could perhaps be valid sources to use, but also they were, since they were backed up, shared initially without the artist's/artists' consent. Does that make it unfair to still post here, even if it helps to back up the art and keep it preserved? Should people just be glad they have their own back-ups locally?

Apologies if this has been answered before, I tried to search for the topic but seemingly found nothing at a glance. I have ideas of what I would do, but it's not up to me. Anyone willing to discuss this?

Preserving content that the artist deleted is one of Danbooru's goals. Just ensure that your backups are good (not samples ideally) and that you are still correctly sourcing and attributing your posts (even if they point to deleted posts).

Is this the consensus for paid content too? If it's not available through official means anymore then I personally see no problem preserving it here.
