A high quality image archive. If we let deleted images show by default, then the average user, including people not logged in, will see a bunch of AI-generated and MS-Paint quality images mixed in with what they came to see. If a user wants to hunt down deleted posts to appeal them, they can always change the settings themselves.

Also, deleted posts are already visible in pools regardless of settings.

Honestly I don't think you should be getting personal, and in terms of approving, I think it's just a horrible time (in terms of activity) at this moment. Hell, sometimes I feel as if it's a combination of both timing & approver's 'tastes' which makes it feel almost like a lottery. But oh well, I don't really let it get to me. Most people, by binge uploading a single artist they deem to be of quality, risk having their uploads tanked because the images don't get to the right approver

Approver activity is generally fine right now. (At least) 13 approvers saw all of those posts which is standard tbh.

I suspect it's pure luck? So far, my posts with the most upvotes have been deleted, while those with the fewest have remained... This makes it hard for me to understand what I should and shouldn't upload. ;-)

Upvotes don't play a factor into the approval process.

I guess so. But that raises the question: What does play a factor? So far i could not find this information in the help documents.

The primary factor in the approval process is how high-quality the post is. Competently-drawn, finished works with good anatomy are usually approved fairly quickly.
