Unfortunately, whereas the head is fairly immutable and almost always easily measurable, the hand is quite likely to be bent, hidden, or otherwise not suitable for ad hoc measurement.
Also male characters in explicit posts are often completely non-existent except for their genitalia. This would make using their body parts for measurement problematic.
