Tag Discussion: grope vs breast_grab

Both grope and breast_grab are about grabbing the breasts. However, what is the contrast between the two tags: clothed/unclothed? grabbing technique? What is the distinction that warrants having these two tags co-existing?

"Grope" isn't just about breasts. You can grope someone's ass or other goodies. It actually means to feel about blindly, but that's just an excuse we use for groping breasts, so I understand where you were coming from.

I can see keeping grope for general groping regardless of the target. But I bet most of the time the target is indeed the breasts, and that most people won't follow the distinction.

We could implicate breast_grab, ass_grab and crotch_grab to grope. Or we could just leave it be and drink beer. Or we could implicate AND drink beer.

Your definition of grope makes sense, gladwort, but at a cursory glance, there isn't anything that would make a grope post unique from a *_grab post, making the use of the grope tag haphazard.

My question is: what could be used to distinguish a grope post from a *_grab post? The clothed/unclothed is a suggestion that I think will create that distinction. When tagging a post with a *_grab tag, if the character being grabbed is still clothed, then add the grope tag as well. Would anyone be against this, or are there better distinctions to use?

Mm, I think it's a bit trickier than that. To me, grope implies sexual intent on the part of the one doing the grabbing. There's plenty of cases of breast_grab and ass_grab that are clearly accidental.
There's also cases where the subject will breast_grab themselves; unless that's meant as part of masturbation, or an attempt at seduction, I wouldn't call that a grope. (see post #444324 for an example)

My vote's on keeping them all, and keeping them separate.

Like sgcdonmai said, it could work like this:
*_grab = someone's body being grabbed by whomever, including the owner; and
grope = someone being grabbed or felt by a 2nd party where sexual intent is clear.
