Spoilers for Kemono Friends 2 Episode 9!
The newest domestic dog friend from ep 9 of KF2 is a new friend according to @kemo_project on twitter (who I believe is an official source), but on the newest posts (post #3442583, post #3442589, and post #3442906), she's just tagged as dog_(kemono_friends), who is a different friend. I think a more accurate tagging would be "イエイヌ (雑種)" -> domestic_dog_(mixed_breed)_(kemono_friends), or something to that effect.
Is the difference enough for a new tag?
A few characters from this series have gotten drastic redesigns without being tagged separately. The precedent would be to keep it as-is, but we could start using qualifiers. Maybe move the old one to _(kemono_friends)_(nexon), assuming this design will be carried over in future games.
If the two appear different, then there should be a new tag.
The only previous example I can think of is American Beaver (Kemono Friends) vs American Beaver (Kemono Friends Game).
They certainly look different, so then the only thing would be the actual name. The best translation of "イエイヌ (雑種)" I can get is "Dog (Mixed Breed)" (danbooru went with dog over domestic dog for the original friend, so I'm going with that here too). If anyone has a better translation please let me know. For now I'm making dog_(mixed_breed)_(kemono_friends)
