Tag Alias: hair_beads

Aliasing hair_beads to ball_braids (more popular).

They're the same thing, right?

is "ball braid" really a common term? First I've heard of it and most of the google results point back here. I've always called them bobbles, and I remember enquiring previously as to the American term.

I'm with wanchan here. I've never heard either "hair beads" or "ball braids" as terms before (I was picturing something on the line of dreadlocks). I've also heard / called them "bobbles" (as an American), but then I don't think I've heard that term either since my sister was in pre-school.

i just used it because the person who made it - already had like a hundred Sakura (ccs) pictures tagged as such. i never heard of it either, and the braids part doesn't make sense. ^_^

"hair beads" would be best when there are individual beads in the hair. so i don't like the alias with the hair tie things.

I've never heard of the term hair_bobble. Or ball_braids for that matter but it's not like the former was ever being used.

Not a single hair_beads image was tagged as anything other than ball_braids so the alias doesn't seem like a problem. I think it was something like 20 hair_beads and 180 ball_braids, roughly.

"Ball braids" makes no sense whatsoever. Those are not braids. They are not even used for braiding! Post count doesn't matter, all it takes to make a weird tag prevalent is a single person with OCD and a silly variety of English.

The alias should be reversed.

Hmm, looking more it seems like every web search result for ball braids links to danbooru pictures or a type of braiding of horses' manes. So yes, it should be something else. I just accepted the alias because both tags were used in exactly the same manner, and one had a lot more. I have no specific attachment to the chosen term myself.

I'm not sure hair_beads is right either though. That makes me think of something completely different. And I've never even heard of bobbles in the context of this hair accessory. Is it a common phrase?

Anyway, what to use then? I'm willing to alias it to anything that makes sense, though once we settle on a tag I'll remove the hair_beads part of the alias so that can be used for actual beads in the hair (well, if that's even something necessary to tag, I doubt I'd ever use it).

it sounds funny, and when you google it shows you exactly what it is. at least its an actual name.

I'd use bobbles personally. Haven't heard the term in a long time, like Shinji said, but it's the only one of these to turn up any decent results in google.

would give people a clue that it is a hair ornament.

I'm for hair_bobbles (obviously). hair_beads sounds more to me like what Munakata Michiru wears (see post #119433).

I was just waiting for more input, and didn't have much time yesterday. Like I said, I'm more likely to get into this stuff on the weekends, though I've been trying to check at least once a day.

I've aliased ball_braids it to hair_bobbles. hair_beads is now freed up for images that actually involve beads in the hair.
