Encountered this tag for the first time today. It's not defined in the wiki, so I thought I'd point it out and see if we can nail down its meaning so that it doesn't get over-used for every maid, miko, or bunny cosplay image.

I propose that erotic clothing is clothing so functionlessly titillating in design that it would not be acceptable in any public setting. Or, in danbooru terms, clothing too titillating to be assigned a Safe rating all other elements of the image notwithstanding. Agreement?

Hmm, okay... So this is like, lingerie? Or is it beyond lingerie and into the realm of crotchless panties and such?

Personally I think most lingerie would not be erotic clothing. Most lingerie is designed to be functional right? An image of a character sitting on her bed in bra-panties-garters-stockings or a corset could be tagged as such without being specially distinguished as erotic clothing.

I hate to be too specific because every new image is different, but in general yes, I think when things start getting crotchless, cut-out, sideless, not covering and supporting body parts it was designed to cover and support, it then qualifies as erotic clothing. This is why I propose using the clothing's impact on Rating as a guide.

For what its worth, I agree with most of the images currently marked with this tag. I didn't create it and haven't been using it, but it seems to me that the images currently tagged with it set themselves apart from others in the afore-described way.

I always though erotic clothing were costumes designed specifically for seduction in the foreplay. Like those ero-nurses, dominatrixes, and stuff you usually find in sex shops.
