[Follow-up] Contributor Status

The result are 7 vs. 20.
So there isn't much to discuss here since the results are really, really unambigous (not like the Brexit voting for example :P).

So I rest my case with this and go to flag posts of each day with a date search like date:2016-06-09 which would gave me all posts of June 9th 2016.
But what I see is that I rarely flag images that were uploaded by one Contributor. Yes, of course I check posts from Contributor where the thumbnail looks suspicious.
But most posts are flagged when they were actually approved. Which is interesting and I didn't expect that (but ok, I only checked the last few days). But for now, I rest my case about this^^.

Several months from now or perhaps even longer, if the issue ever comes up again, we can point back to the voting thread to show how unpopular the idea of automated/mandatory restrictions is...

There are actually some questions I want to ask here.
Since we have agreed to not randomly give back some posts baxk to the queue, this has to be done manually by flagging. Now, I did that for some days and I flagged mostly uploads that were approved by mostly one Janitor.
So the questions are:
1. When should a user be reported for demotion after some posts got flagged and deleted.
2. When should a Janitor be reported for demotion after some posts got flagged and deleted.
The second question seems a bit more crucial, though.

Some of that is dependent on issue #2658 getting resolved. It'll allow a minimum user level to be set for forum topics so that Mods/Admins can discuss sensitive topics like demotion in a group setting without generating a whole lot of drama.

+1 to creating this thing.
I'm a bit surprised that this kind of communication doesn't exist already^^'.

I think we need to fix other issues first. Dissatisfaction with the length of time to approve posts seems to have been part of the drama there, as Contributors usually get to bypass that... which is why bad posts or at least ones other Danboorians may not like getting auto-approved got the drama going. It wasn't the existence of Contributors, but how they got to post whatever while everyone else languished in the queue for the full three days that triggered that outpouring of resentment.

Contributors wouldn't be so annoying to a subset of the site's uploaders if they didn't feel as much frustration over the moderation process.

Beyond that, I'd say parts of this require changes to the site to work... such as issue #2568.
