I wouldn't say so. Bkub caused a similar shitstorm and albert is the one who approved it again after they got mass deleted.
If you wanted to say Bkub is better example of such corruption, then I agree of course.
The approval system is more of a way to efficiently allow massive amounts of really shitty posts that no one wants to die and contributor status usually comes with not being offensively bad.
Yes, I admit most of promoted contributors had to painstakingly get their approvals earlier as normal members. But after that, they are almost free to upload what they want. With close to zero of feedback from community about quality of their posts. And people changes. Heck, even artists' skills are degrading sometimes.
I'm saying almost, because in some really rare cases when they go absolutely too far all ends with some kind of shitstorm.
So, if contributors uploads subpar arts they get either silence or sudden shitstorm, nothing in between. This is sick.
(btw, this also concerns posting janitors and mods)
Anyway, if I understand correctly the only reason why contributors (and to extend all janitors+ too) are bypassing queue is to relieve janitors from their tedious work with flood of posts waiting for approval. On the other hand such close to unconditional license for unmoderated upload leads to problem I'm talking above.
So how about finishing with unconditional licenses for bypassing queue and giving only a partial ones? For example, the best posters would be awarded with 80% of random chance of queue evading per every post. This way, statistically for every 10 posts, 2 of them would be randomly send to mod queue for approval.
To compensate it, the same routine could be applied for other users. Of course with different percentages. Those who are new begin with 0% (all posts into queue), then some proven ones could get 20-80 ratio, then even 40-60 and so on.
All this percentage quota could be clasped by some kind of mathematic formula, which would assign the quotas accordingly to the history and number of accepted/unaccepted posts, similarly to how upload limits works today.
ps. it's highly probable I'll be offline for whole weekend. Sorry in advance for my silence and delayed responses (if such will be neccessary of course)
