Thrill inflation: The idea that, as a story goes on, things need to become more exciting to trump the last thing that happened and keep the reader's interest. I can't think of a good two-word phrase for this in English, so let's use the one from Japanese.
Lol it's a famous quote by Polnareff from JoJo's Bizarre Adventures part 3, Stardust Crusaders in response to Dio using his time stop to troll Polnareff.
Don't you just look like a kid who just received a new toy? What is the origin of that questionable scientific research! Where is your source!?SO INDECENT!!Heh heh . . . Just relax. If you have any regrets about turning into a girl, I will personally get them out of you!
イカせてあげる, "ikasete ageru", "make them go", but also meaning "make you come" (when the first part is in katakana like that.)Why don't you thank me?If what you're saying is true, then wouldn't I die just by having sex?If the findings are true, then Kyon should be several hundred times more sensitive than when he was a guy... Just like thrill inflation in a shonen manga! And not only that, they say flat-chested girls have good sensitivity!WHY, ISN'T THIS EXACTLY WHAT YOUR BODY WAS MADE FOR!!THIS ERO-KYON!!Please calm down, Haruhi-san.This setup is seriously not funny.Aaah, this is fun! I've been thinking since I heard that story that it would be pretty great if Kyon turned into a girl! But it really has happened! Is this another dream? Although last time I woke up suddenly at the kiss, this time we'll surely go all the way!!It was her, after all!
Never gonna give you up,
never gonna let you down,
never gonna run around
and become a girl... Dammit, it doesn't even make a good joke!!
For an excessively long explanation of the Japanese meme that Kyon actually used, see the mini-note at the bottom.Kyon's line ("Never gonna give you up...") was originally a different meme that didn't make a lot of sense translated literally.
He says:
first part of the meme, which Kyon leaves out: "I'm-I'm going to tell you the straight facts about what happened just now!"
second part: When I thought I was climbing up the stairs in front of him, all of a sudden I found myself descending! (When I thought I was climbing up the stairs in front of her, all of a sudden I found myself turning into a girl!)
Then he goes like "Joudan ni mo nariyasen!!" in a Kansai accent, as though he were a daytime television comedian.
It's funny because it's a popular meme with some stupid ASCII art associated.
And now I explained the joke to death.
