Napul said: What Oedipal complex? Just a boy kissing girl. What's wrong with that? ^_~
FYI, Rei's true nature is Shinji's mother clone. [But you should know that if you've watched Eva already...] ~,~ Then again...it's a 'boy kissing girl' scene from the first glance.

And where directly speaking about this? I don't believe theories. And in series and movies is only said that Rei is not pure human. That's all. Reason why is she similar to Shinji's mother, is not explained.

Actually, it is. Sometimes, it's all there in the manual (or supplemental materials), Napul. So yes, she is cloned from both Yui and Lilith. This is canon.

Then show me that supplementary materials. Wikipedia is not a reliable source in this case. And in the series or movies is nothing about that.
Sweet. I just went and read our spoilers policy. It has no statute of limitations. So not only the following must be hidden: Spike dies but also that Jesus dies
I have no idea why in God's name I'm arguing about this, of all the things in the world, especially on an old post, but here we go.
Rei is not simply Yui salvaged, she is an outright genetic clone to some degree. If she was just salvaged, everything would be fine... I guess. Actually, if it's changed so that she's salvaged in the movies, that would fit very well with all the Shinji x Rei action we see.
The thing a lot of people don't get about cloning is that unless you go to the effort of making a doppelganger, clones are essentially children. Real life cloning is literally making an embryo to be put where it needs to be in order to be born, and one would think fictional cloning works the same way. Eva even explicitly states that if Shinji were a girl, he would be named Rei, implying that if Shinji had a sister she'd probably look something like Rei. Siscon, basically. It should also be noted that since Rei also has Lilith genetics, that sorta makes her a half-sister.
Truly, we don't see a lot of how Shinji feels about his mom, except in the manga's episode 20 where she actually projects herself directly and tries to convince Shinji to stay with her... and Shinji rejects her. The manga is very different, so...
