i don't understand, so this is a japanesse tradition right? for what purposes? i know i seen this in komachi's endings in SWR..

Thinking about the story. Children dying earlier than their parents will make their parents grieve. Also, logically they won't be able to complete their obligations as a child by giving grandchildren, supporting their parents in their old days, giving proper burial and respect after their death.

Ohh i see now, how unexpectedly a sad meaning of it..

another thing i like from touhou that it keeps involve the traditional culture so it gives more "eastern" feeling which is a very special feature to me.

I'm sure the kids that get murderer or die of sickness are to blame for that.
