When I watched Evangelion for first (and heck, last) time, like 10 years ago, that was EXACTLY wtf I ended up thinking, at least the first and last panel's.

Hey now, I like anime that has some intelligence to it.

Evangelion was even pretty good up till the last few episodes, at which point the story went batshit insane.

Now that's an unfair assessment. Evangelion was just one of those hit or miss shows. Some liked it, some didn't (self included) Honestly, people put way too much emphasis on that show because it was "deeply moving" or showed issues of "self-worth" or " self-awareness". The show was lame, Elfin lied was better
