This one is very tempting to translate literally, since "vorgot something" isn't quite as funny as 'va-va-va-vasuremonoooo" (the song Shiraishi sings at the end of Ep. 13).

Heh, I was thinking exactly that. I was like, "I know what this means and I know what it's referencing and why it's 'va' instead of 'wa', but how the hell do I translate that?"

I could pop in the DVD of Haruhi and see what the dub version does with this passage... Of course, you'd have to pay me a substantial amount for me to submit myself to that.

But since the whole joke is entirely reliant on knowing that reference, it would make sense to me to refer to the dub in the translation. I mean, if you don't know what this is about, the joke just doesn't work.

What does this have to do with Haruhi?

This comic is a parody of a scene from the anime.

Taniguchi (voiced by Shiraishi) sings wa-wa-wasuremono and catches Kyon and Yuki in the same pose. The L*S ending is a parody of that, as is this.

Is that from when whatsherface tries to kill Kyon, but Nagato saves him? I don't recall ever hearing that song prior to Shiraishi's singing it in Lucky Star though.

Yeah, that's the scene. Taniguchi comes in singing the song while Yuki is still lying in Kyon's arms.
