I sort of want to take the "roll" sfx and replace it with "troll". But that's just me.

Reimu? Extortionist? In fanon, maybe. Canon...let's just say I get the feeling that any degree to which she's irked by lack of donations is not because of poverty problems (in a place as remote as the Hakurei shrine, the resident miko had BETTER be able to care for themselves), but because of the implication of nearly nobody being there. Granted, Reimu seems to adore routine almost to the point that you could use it as a point for a high-functioning autism diagnosis attempt (and this is coming from someone with Asperger's Syndrome), but that's no perfect ward against loneliness.

Even with Marisa in the vicinity, Suika's arrival was probably a blessing for her...

UFO has two modes for all the characters, and Reimu and Marisa's alternate modes made it abundantly clear they were searching for the treasure ship specifically to loot it and get rich. (Sanae just chooses which of her two resident goddesses are protecting her/sending her out that time.)

Greedy Reimu IS canon.

Heck, even in Perfect Cherry Blossom, when Reimu runs into Chen at Mayohiga, after confirming that there are plenty of valuable artifacts there, she says "Let the looting begin!"

that's to be expected, though. it wasn't that long ago before UFO story that her shrine was destroyed...twice.

UFO's backstory references the lacking harvests caused by the weather muckery in SWR.

And it gets rebuilt just as many times, and each time Reimu didn't even need to pay for repairs, so that excuse doesn't hold any water.

Greedy Reimu sort of is and isn't canon. If she hears about treasure she'll try and get some provided she doesn't have to work too hard for it (as we see in the games and manga), but she won't go out of her way to find valuables like Marisa does, and lack of wealth actually has nothing to do with her desire for donations.

One chapter of the Wild and Horned Hermit manga reveals that she wants donations because she sees recieving donations as a sign that her shrine is successful. It's more a matter of pride for her than anything.
