My favorite part of this pic is how they're curved around to suggest a yin-yang shape.

Nah, that's just perspective.
Exaggeration in size to create depth.

from the thumbnail I thought it was the crotchtuft that got enlarged, heh

...Actually if you look at the crotch tuft closely enough you can see some sort of a closed-eyes face on it.
