Are you positive this is from the movie? In the movie they had maneuvering boosters equipped to the VF fighters.

LOL No. I tagged the movie since the VF-1 appears in both the movie and the TV series. I know this is not the VF-1, seems more like a VF-0/VF-1/F-14 hybrid...

Looks like a nontransforming prototype for the GERWALK configuration. Basically, an existing jet (Likely F-14 base) with bits bolted on.

The swept-wing design isn't unique to the F-14, although its what most people think of immediately. The Valkyrie's body design is taken heavily from the Tomcat and Eagle line of jets, but they aren't the same thing.

Also the VF-0 has a much larger cockpit, angled v-tail, and bulkier design. I'd have to say this is the VF-1 if theres any confusion.

Kawamori himself said that the original VF-0 was going to be closer in appearance to the F-14 KAI, but pressure from the producers (Bandai) made him design it like a passive stealth atmosphere only VF-1 instead...
