Old news, Squeenix already said that they modeled Lightning as "a female Cloud" a long, long time ago. I can't believe people are still getting shocked by this.
on a relevent note, I remember reading somthing said by Nomura himself sometime ago, that in creating and designing Lightning he was looking to make a female cloud
