Cosplay? Right... In any case, if anyone wondered what the "M" in "M. Pen^2" stood for (me for example), one click over to Pixiv would seem to indicate it's Malamute.
It's tagged as cosplay. Unless someone shows me irrefutable evidence that it's something other than an elaborate frontispiece costume, I refuse to believe otherwise.

Exhibit A: There are no seams to indicate a mask or suit. Exhibit B: The entire creature is covered in fur.
My reaction was like"...Ummmmm what?" then i thought the artist screwed up..then I thought..maybe the artist did it to freak people out after reading some comments

...for my own sanity's sake...
For a dude named Tzimisce, you show uncharacteristic squeamishness towards molding creatures together.
The Tzimisce, as far as I know, never dabbled in hybrid animal breeding. They left that kind of thing to mad scientists on South Park.

What are you talking about? That... thing's collar could easily be concealing all kinds of seams and shit. Hell, Rei could just be holding a wood cutout in front of the dog that's shaped like Pen-Pen, like one of those things at the beach you stick your head through, with the steroid freak painted on it [except there are legs attached to the bottom]
Also, with that stroke pattern, you might as well say that Rei is covered in fur, too.

It's the little details you need to pay attention to here. While you might argue that the texture on the creature's chest and Rei's sleeve hold some similarities, the edges are quite different. Rei has smooth, neat lines on her clothing and flesh, while the beast has jagged edges, especially around the most visible wing and leg. Observe a few other anime images depicting animal fur or facial hair alongside this image, and you may notice this as a common artistic technique for indicating hair.

Note my comment, first on the page. The ability to appreciate the "what could have been" of this picture is utterly bamboozled by the sheer WTF factor of that hybrid dog-thing.
My first thought was "Why's everyone so freaked out?" and "I don't see anything". Then when I had a closer look, I couldn't help but started laughing my black ass off...
Who else thought the penguin feet were some kind of hideous hands reaching up from the ground? That was as disturbing as the actual intent of the picture.

Fellas, the thing's certainly weird as hell, but it's not as fundamentally wrong as you lot are making it out to be. Hell, I imagine most of you are veterans of the show, which contained creatures that treated physics and biology more as funny jokes than universal laws. This kind of squeamishness from you lot is what's really weird.
