He kinda did. it was back during summer vacation and they both went to see a movie.

It during summer break i think. You're given the option of asking out your dorm mates to see a movie. Eventually you'll get the chance to ask out Shinji to see some movie about animals. He's close to tears near the end.. Of course there's also the videos that the command center always takes.

The one that says 'While Crying' looks more like he's trying to take a piss, but is having a bit of trouble. xD
