The "Gundam: The Origin" manga by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko has a similar moment in Vol. 5, where the normally useless Kai Shiden sneaks up behind a Zaku while it's trying to drag the disabled Gundam away, screams an expletive and whacks the Zaku's head so hard from the back its mono-eye sensor bursts clear from the Zaku's head.
Afterwards, you get a nice shot of Kai in his Guncannon dragging the disabled Zaku off to the White Base, with its fingers in the Zaku's eye track like you might put your fingers in a bowling ball's holes. Quite a funny image.
