    You mean pre-1997 internet?

It's always fascinating to see modern internet users act like they've been stabbed through the heart whenever they see a slur. It's a kind of moralfag that emerged entirely in the last 10 15 years.

People don't like rape or scat or loli or nazis or ero guro or politics or fanart of Charlie Kirk's murder or Xi Jinping as Winnie the Pooh, and yet here we are.

If only there was an instrument, an artifice, some kind of technology or mechanism to hide posts containing topics you don't like instead of bitching and crying about it... A list of things to be hidden... A "dark" list perhaps...

I'm the first one to say just "blacklist it" but this is just low quality /pol/ shit. Honestly surprised you even bothered approving it

Edit: maybe not /pol/ probably more /v/ or /vg/ but still not a standard that's fit for danbooru

It looks the same as the rest of the thank you chainsaw man (meme) posts traced on the original panels (post #11041538, post #11039504, post #11039057), and I reapproved it because it's an invalid flag, and if we start letting these fly then some retard is gonna get it in his mind that they can flag anything they don't like just because of what it depicts.

I created slur (profanity) specifically for blacklisting. If you think a post is badly drawn then flag it, but don't just pick one and not an identical other one because your ass got hurt by the evil magic word.

Post aside, are you ok man? Just kind of a strange hill to die on. Usually low quality + racism means near instant oblivion regardless of it being a meme or not.

It's never a bad time to die on a hill of integrity about which anime porn is acceptable and which is not, especially since I do this on company time.

If this was good quality porn I wouldn't bat an eye and would just tell people to blacklist but this is neither good quality or porn, it's just a shitpost.

A shitpost has the same right to stay on the site as fine art. I object in principle to flagging posts because of the content they depict, and I invite you to compare the flag on this post to these and these for post #5677339 and post #7047215.
If sattou (style) or the myriad of redrawings of this manga page that use the exact same faces drawn over are fine, then this should be too.

I think if you're saying "this isn't good quality" and you're not saying the same about the entirety of the thank you chainsaw man (meme), then you're not arguing in good faith. This post is objectively better drawn than post #11039789, and the only other noteworthy difference is one uses a slur.

I hate how far left so many Danbooru users are. Can’t have any fun, and they mass downvote anyone to the right of Mao to silence opposition.

My comment shouldn't be taken seriously. If there has been changes in the internet it's probably been these 3 things: we've made it easier to access toxic content by making the internet more accessible in general, humanity has become more comfortable using the internet as a whole so more prone using zero filters when saying something (especially because of the anonymity), and enshitification because businesses found they could make even more by being shittier with their offerings after hooking users and then forcing users to pay for what they used to have for free.

Among other comments, I agree. I fully admit to liking dark humor, even at times offensive humor, but if the punchline is just "I'm gonna outright say a slur" then that's a pretty crappy joke, and a particularly shitty shitpost. Actually good dark humor needs some cleverness to make them work. This isn't funny. It's just plain offensive and racist, and not in a clever sort of way where I can say "Ok that's questionable, but I'll give you props for creativity."

Dead baby jokes have existed since the post-war period. Do you consider them to be in better taste than this?
Your upvotes are full of rape, guro and you even upvoted post #9947135, which makes fun of a real life murder. Is racism worse than murder?

Every single person who posted on this comment section has upvoted shit that a normal person would think is horrifying and would permanently try to ostracize you for it, you're just desensitized to it because you saw it too many times. You are in no position to have any moral grandstanding about a shock humor drawing, stop huffing your own farts and keep that shit on reddit.

Charlie Kirk was a reprehensible person worthy of mockery. I don't feel any sympathy for his death, even if I acknowledge the murder still shouldn't have happened. (Cause randomly murdering people is bad, hot take.) I also downvoted that Tyrone art that made light of the murder of Iryna Zarutska, because she was just an innocent person, and the art was made way way way too soon after her death. It was just tasteless and it didn't make any sense to draw "fan art" of it or whatever, outside of total shock value.

I'm not gonna be upset if someone like Alex Jones one day dies, because he's just a terrible liar who spreads false conspiracies about tragedies for money and attention. In a similar vein, I find it hilarious that Johnny Somali has been beaten up and arrested for being a disrespectful nuisance.

Also, me liking rape art or gore art is completely irrelevant. Rape art/ fetishism is not real, it's a fantasy. It's obviously 100% messed up as a fetish and I fully own up to that, but it's not real. A person can have a rape fetish and like rape porn while still completely condemning actual rape.

And like I said, there's no clever thought put into this joke. It's just "I said the N word haha." You CAN make jokes about the n word, sometimes outright saying it, but you need to put actual thought into it and be clever. Loudly shouting slurs isn't funny. It's annoying and cringe at best, and literally just plain offensive at worse.

Dead baby jokes can be funny, and I'll admit the examples listed in that Wikipedia article got some guilty chuckles outta me, but that's because they at least have some thought put into the joke, as well as me laughing at the absurd darkness of them. This particular art here? There's no joke. There's no thought or effort. It's literally just "I'm gonna call you an N word." That's it.

"How dark is my humor? It picks cotton." Like that's funny. It's actually got some thought put into it.

And for the record, I don't like GURO art. I just like blood and gore art (but not TOO gory) because I have an interest in macabre stuff, like how a horror or slasher movie fan likes gore. I appreciate violence in an artistic way, if I had describe it like a snob. It's like how a goth person might like horror art, but that doesn't necessarily mean they get off to it.

I do however think women covered in blood is sexy. It's very artistically macabre. However, the minute you involve any serious gore into it, I completely get turned off. I can handle not too graphic cuts, but the minute you add any dismemberment or such, then I start getting uncomfortable and queasy.

You are writing a wall of text to justify your personal comedy preferences to strangers. Do you not see the futility of that, and how it invalidates your previous point in the context of this post?
Do we put a form in the upload page for everyone who wants to upload an offensive post, that they have to justify it before they upload it?

Look at all these flags for offensive. Do we need a moral committee on Danbooru that passes judgement on which post is too offensive? Do we ban post #9825789 too? post #252939 got flagged for "offensive" for having a nun fucked by pigs. Is that too offensive?

Look at these flags on a porn post of Xi Jinping. We've had cases of chinese people butthurt at art that offended their nation before. I can guarantee you they would see no issue with this picture. Is their opinion more valid than yours? Why shouldn't that post be taken down as well, if it has the potential to offend millions of chinese people? If you got caught with that post in China you'd suffer actual consequences, while this post won't have any, so the Xi post is objectively more dangerous to your personal safety than this one. Why should one be forbidden and not the other?

I don't think any of you realize that ANY form of censorship will always be used as justification for adding more censorship.

Man, he's desperate to defend that. The fact that he's unable to argue without a slippery slope fallacy while sitting at -7 votes tells a lot. And also there are fun uses of that word. Rush Hour did it nicely. This is low-tier "man says swear word", "other man makes le shocked face".

What are you talking about? I reapproved this post because I believe it does not break our upload rules, or it does not break them any more than any other controversial picture like the ones linked above does. It's a discussion about danbooru uploading policies, is that not an important topic?

Oh no, danbooru mods given the same treatment as other users, the horror!

If it was up to me I would entirely remove the function of downvotes hiding comments. It's something that belongs on a shithole like Reddit where popularity and not accuracy decides what is or isn't shown. Imagine if we hid all darkened_skin score:<-4 posts automatically like we do with comments.

There's a very old saying which I'm sure you've heard: "talk shit get hit". If you keep coming back pretending to be better than everyone else then I'm going to keep posting counterexamples of you being a hypocrite just like everyone else.

Also, my comment history is public like everyone else's. Go and check how many of my downvoted comments I've pinned to force-unhide them in the past, if you're worried about abuse. Here, I'll give you a link.

Notice all the comments you screencapped were deleted by mods. Nice example of danbooru's free speech innit?

Am I to assume that you don't know the difference between help:community rules and help:upload rules then? Because everyone here seems to have been confusing one with the other.

Is that a stupid rule according to your free-speech absolutist ass or not? Remember, ANY form of censorship will always be used as justification for adding more censorship.

The difference between you and me is that I don't give a damn what you said in the past, as I don't need that kind of petty validation that the person I'm arguing with is some kind of horrible person, as if I needed a moral high ground to make my point, since I am confident in my arguments.
And also, these are deleted comments that I got punished for (the first one got me banned for a week), so you're still abusing your moderator privileges by digging comment history that isn't accessible to the everyday poster (and also on a personal note, I was wrong for trying to ask who is allowed to say that n-word, it's not my fight).
Not beating the allegations anytime soon, my friend! In fact, you're only digging yourself deeper: whataboutism, moving the goalposts, appeal to popularity... Is it really worth it? All of that to defend an unfunny and pretty bad picture? All you're doing is making it very oddly personal.

No, because otherwise we would have users calling each other faggots under every post and any form of civil discussion, which is the purpose of comments, would be impossible. The current rules are the minimum required to being able to not have every post devolve into a namecalling shitstorm instigated by spambots and trolls.

You might want to note that the comment rules have zero prohibition on the actual content being discussed. In fact, they have become more and more lax over the years, and have been rewritten multiple times to be more generic - the same thing that happened to the upload rules, which used to directly forbid or heavily restrict yaoi, furry, gigantic breasts and other niche content.

You are all freely and vehemently arguing against me while fully aware that nothing remotely close to a punishment would come out of this (because that would be stupid). But try arguing in the same way you're doing with me right now with a mod on reddit or a community discord, and see what happens. You are complaining about the effects of a lax environment while reaping the benefits of it. That's hypocritical, and it's fully within my rights to also call you out on it.

    FRien said in comment #2589312:

You need to double check your list, the appeal to popularity is the argument YOU presented against me for pinning my own comments. And whataboutism is not applicable here because you're all trying to justify for more censorship while being hypocrites about your own comments and posts. Whataboutism would make sense if I was bringing up unrelated things, but all (or almost all, except my reply to kikimaru maybe) of the comments and posts I referenced are related to the topic at hand, something you seemingly are incapable to understand. Finally, YOU are the one trying to move the goalpost by making the discussion about me instead of trying to justify your positions on why exactly we should be banning offensive posts that don't currently break any rule, but not permanently ban any of you for breaking already existing rules - especially you FRien the user, you who have broken the rules many times before.

What benefit am I reaping here? There's a powertripping mod who highlight his own comments just to make sure it remains shown no matter how unpopular it is and justify it because muh free speech while gleefully screencapping deleted comments (that's invisible to non-mods btw) for arguments and saw nothing wrong with this. How is this supposed to benefit the average user btw, cause I sure can't see it.

Your definition of ideal free speech seems to be conveniently whatever you personally find acceptable and fuck everything else. If you're trying to prove you're better than reddit mods you're doing a piss-poor job at it.

Interesting how he nitpicks my post to pick only what he can answer to. Really interesting, that tacit admittance that I'm 100% right about everything else.
What an odd hill to die on, but since he's so adamant on embarrassing himself, fine.

And don't forget that "free speech" only means "don't talk against me or I'll pull up your comment history and try to make you look bad but never actually adress your arguments". Fascinating definition of free speech here: racial slurs are ok, but talking back? Nah.

I have always argued in favor of keeping any kind of content, including those I hate, as long as they are good art. I deeply dislike bara, and yet look at approver:nonamethanks bara. I even check guro every once in a while despite finding it painful to look at, to undelete decent-looking posts.

Even in this comment thread I have not argued once in favor of changing our policies to start banning anyone or anything, but used your comments as an example of how lax we are towards our users, not just our posts.

Feel free to peruse my approvals, uploads, comments and forum posts to find even one case of me arguing to ban content I don't like, or mobbing against content I found disgusting.
Those searches are all public, and I've been on this site for almost 10 years now. Take as much time as you want, ping me when you find it.

You can bow out of a discussion gracefully, or you can shit and cry and piss yourself like a petulant child whose back is against the wall while pretending not to care about an argument you wasted hours on, but you can't do both at the same time.

If this was on a BA post, it'd get 100+ upvotes, despite still being tasteless there too.

Also, the whole meme format is just low quality. So, no wonder this post here is too.

I have nothing to add except that I'd like to remind all users that you can set comment visibility thresholds based on voted popularity in your account settings. If it goes lower, it defaults to being hidden for you. The field is on the same page as your blacklist, right above it in fact.

I have mine set to -100 for fairness and I read a reason to regret that decision every single day.

The benefit of being able to throw a hissyfit over a mod highlighting their comment while you call them racist? Not getting even a temp ban for a blatantly antisemitic comment? He's right that if you tried what you're doing right now on reddit or discord you would be permabanned on the spot.

It was a reply to someone calling me a rat lel

Okay, so would you use that same excuse if the person was black? "I said the N-word cause he called me a rat lmao" What kind of excuse even is that? It doesn't stop being antisemitic just because they insulted you first.

And then we've got this nonce, who has been banned multiple times for slurs and hatespeech, once again playing the arbitor of truth and goodness.

No one's been banned here or had their comments deleted, so what are you even talking about? What attack on your free speech is happening right now?

I think calling out someone who throw a hissy fit and argue using whataboutism over a picture that frankly isn't even that good is alright yes, especially when they misuse mod's privileges just because they're angry their comment was downvoted. Also calling out admin's hipocrisy is something that should be encouraged.

    >goy is a slur for jews
You're reaching to the edge of the known universe dude. Goy specifically refers to not jews. Speaking of, rats is a far more common insults to jews, and yet no one accused the guy who called me rat of antisemitism, much less deleting their comment. You're twisting yourself into a pretzel defending this double standard.

Besides, the case should be clear. If danbooru's free speech is absolute, then saying slur in comments should be okay. If it's not absolute, then there's no reason why gratuitous slurs in picture is acceptable but not in comments, and it's therefore okay to debate how acceptable is the picture.

Everything else is just pointless attempts to distract from the original point, which I guess is the reason why NNT post his screencaps. Whataboutism, as I said in my first comment here.

We have almost a hundred posts of racist momoi (meme), some where she straight up says the word, and nobody has ever batted an eye on them. And yet we've been banning people for years for saying slurs in the comments, and nobody has batted an eye on those either. The rules have always been clear on this, that rules on the community are one thing and rules on the content of the art are another, otherwise we would be deleting all the active posts under homophobia and racism too.

The original point was that you cannot complain about a picture being offensive without considering all the other posts that have been flagged for being offensive before. And you cannot argue in good faith for the banning of content that you yourself have unironically posted in the past. I see that you still have not replied to this point, and constantly try to shift attention from it and turn it into a whataboutism issue. Maybe if you say it ten more times it will hide the cases I posted where you and other people behaved exactly as depicted in the post you are saying should be removed.

    From Wiktionary:
    Etymology
    From goy (“non-Jew”) +‎ cattle.

    Noun
    goycattle pl (plural only)

(alt-right slang, derogatory) Non-Jews regarded as mindless and docile, and therefore as susceptible to Jewish manipulation.

Never said goy was a slur. Goycattle however is a derogatory term with antisemetic implications. Pretty sure making allusions to Jews being manipulative is considered antisemitic by most, and everything a google search turned up agrees that goycattle is antisemitic.

I don’t know why that guy called you a RAT and I don’t care. It's not relevant to you saying a blatantly derogatory term but bitching about it when someone else does it.

Not sure I understand the correlation here. Why would we hold art to the same standard as the comment section? The art is the lifeblood of the site while the comments are secondary to that.

All of the complaints about this particular pic center around the use of one word, which doesn't really speak for the actual overall quality of the actual post in question. Some comments have addressed that they don't believe the art itself is of sufficient quality, which would ordinarily be a more worthwhile topic of discussion, but then we have to ask why the same people don't hold various other thank you chainsaw man (meme) to the same degree of scrutiny, seeing as there are plenty of posts which anyone can easily argue are of relatively lower quality.

The art's good which I guess is reason enough to keep it, but the joke's lame and I know danbooru doesn't have joke quality control but idk man, there's ways to structure the use of the word into a proper joke that's actually funny and then there's "Kramer at the Laugh Factory"
