From what i've gathered, the only people who liked those Fireball-esque humanoid robots are furries, engineering students, and contrarians.
Almost every robofucker i know of prefer their robot gf to be humanlike or at least have partial human skintone over full metal like Aria did.

I'm in neither of those groups but I like robot Aria, she looks really cool.

Something something small sample sizes. When I was a kid my oldest sister gave me a copy of phantasy star 0 and there was a cute Cast girl in the hub who I liked because she seemed nice and I made sure to talk to her after every mission even though she stopped having new dialogue after a certain point, and that was a formative experience for me.
