I know this guy is pro-NATO, but the last time a super power underestimated a third world latino country, was at the Falklands war, they could mean some trouble. Also the planes where SU-30MK2, if I'm not mistaken.

I'd not heard anything about Argentina being underestimated back then. Please tell.

As someone who knows about what happened in argentina, They got their ass handed to them and lost the Malvinas like two weeks after against a Lended Float that just happened to be close.

I said: "they could mean some trouble" not that they won. The Point is, no one expected a bankrupt Argentine to do anyting, with obsolete WW2 era ships, antiquated Israeli Daggers and just a couple of Étendards, against a Naval super power with centuries of naval dominance, yet a handful Exocets prove them wrong.

I don't see how the US could lose a fight with Venezuela.

I also don't see how a war with them wouldn't turn into another endless quagmire like Iraq or Afghanistan did.

Why the hell is this even happening? I don't know that anybody other than a certain president wants a war with Venezuela.

Don't know if this should facetiously be called Operation Helicopter Ride (you know, because Maduro is a socialist and it's South America) or Operation Extraction to New York (like Escape from New York, but the other way around). But I like how this demonstrates the continued worth of attack helicopters after they've been so maligned for their limited performance in Ukraine.
There are noises about some of the Venezuelan security having been bought off, which among other reasons could explain how this was pulled off so flawlessly. Sounds probable to me. Boring but effective.
I thought that was going to be it but then Trumpodumpolis himself announced that the US would be "running" Venezuela until a government they (Washington) like is formed. Seems then there'll have to be long-term boots on the ground to enforce that sort of policy, and that's where a proper mess can still be made.
Looking forward to the military youtuber analyses and further fireworks, tragic though (some of) the loss of lives may be. Blood for the Blood God, etc.

This war is a terrible idea that's going to be terrible for everyone. No government imposed on Venezuela by the US will be seen as legitimate, and if Trump gets away with acts of aggression in defiance of international law, it will embolden other countries to engage in aggression. In particular, I'd be worried about Taiwan.

Why? Do you think the governments of countries like China were previously operating on a basis of ethical politics because the honorable United States had been setting such a brilliant example? The Tibetans would probably disagree.
I think real geopolitics has always been power politics engaged in by cliques of those powerful and ruthless enough to seize power, and "international law" was a framework that could only work between democratic western nations whereas to the rest of the world it was always some bullshit that had been imposed on them by what seemed like arrogant and hypocritical westerners.
Nah, in regards to Taiwan such demonstrations of power are more likely to deter Chinese aggression against USA's sphere of influence.

I feel both childlike joy and confusion from the fact that I learned about this event from tweets of grok adding bikini to pictures of Maduro being captured. What a time to be alive.

I mean, The Venezuelan Army wasn't really prepared for an actual attack, most of what they do is Bluffing and keeping the people in check(Even if it means genocide)

And taking into account that the Venezuelan Goverment was Backing up El Tren De Nicaragua, a Cartel, And gave them resources to not only track down a dude that was not only exposing a lot of the things going on Venezuela, But also told everyone outside that even if Maduro lost the elections he wasn't going to step away from the power, flash foward a few weeks and he Disapears, with Maduro doing a announcement basically blaming My country, Chile, of his suposed death without anyone even knowing if he is even alive.

Later on, Investigations and so on, we found out what happened, Basically got kidnnaped by porly dressed Police officers(they obviously weren't Police) and then we found out he got the usual "Knew too much" treatment, Maduro also lost the elections and but remained in power.

What I am trying to say is, not only The Venezuelan Army is for show(they are non-existent until there's a big protest that need to die down Quick) But they have no real army, Just a Private Military with a diversity of people going from actual trained Soldiers to members of the Cartel.

Also, Yeah, with the stunt the USA pulled up everything is going to get messy.

    All in all, La política es una M I E R D A.

    Have good Day fellow humans.

Do you forget that Russia already tried to capture Zelenskyy and it failed miserably? Also, unfortunately, our girl F-22 are getting war-cucked again.
