As for my two cents, considering the concept art leak from awhile ago, effectively confirming most things in pokemon go through at least a few redesigns before being used, and the fact they couldn't even be bothered to 3d model the buildings beyond basic balconies, I'm 100% certain Canari was just an early concept art for iono they repurposed and...maybe added a thing or two to make it look different enough...or I could just be completely off, we'll never know unless an elite team of hackers get together and raid game freak for all their hidden files and the such containing such information...

Seeing that one of Canari's in game posters references Deco 27's "The Vampire" I'm more willing to believe that Canari's design was inspired by the Mikus from Project Voltage.
