Actually I think the joke is that *she* "turned to stone" (froze in place out of shyness)
The Japanese text in the first image doesn't actually specify *who* will turn to stone, which is the kind of omission that makes grammatical sense in Japanese but not in English, unfortunately. Untranslatable joke strikes again!
