I'm just curious, was 消失 translated as "timid" intentionally? I mean it works, the "Vanishing" version of Nagato was certainly timid, I just wasn't sure if that was the intention here.

Yeah, I thought about this one for a while, but eventually settled on "timid" because I reasoned that it would make the most sense for the majority of the English readers. I didn't want to assume that everyone had access to the other forms of Haruhi media aside from the anime so I went with something that was easiest to understand.
If you can come up with something that works even better, please feel free to change it. :3
