Feels kinda good to see my translation up here, which also puts some obligation on me to correct it. Meiling is actually asking, "What's chocolate?"
I'm a bit unsure as to how this sentence is usually used. I felt like she said "Where's the chocolate?", but it seems it might actually be "What's chocolate?" I had a native Japanese read the dialogue about a week ago, and he insisted that it's "What's chocolate?".
Hell, it might be a bit of both What and Where, for all I know. But Japanese can't be that weird, right?
If not "What's chocolate?", it could be "What chocolate?" instead
The former sounds like Meiling doesn't know what a chocolate is, even though we've seen a coupleof times that desserts do exist in SDM. The latter is similar to her asking where, in that she's wondering what part of the 100% human mousse contains chocolate.
Hell, it might be a bit of both What and Where, for all I know. But Japanese can't be that weird, right?
"What's chocolate?" makes sense out of context since the と is used for unfamiliar words someone else said, but more broadly is quoting what someone said. Considering this and that the sentence is an "unfinished sentence question" which just marks chocolate(that you said) as the topic and the rest of the sentence would probably be どこ or なに. It should probably be something like: And the chocolate...?, Chocolate being?, What chocolate?, "Chocolate" where?... and probably many more since translating is odd and languages rely on vagueness. Current translation is also fine.
