There's nothing vital in your lower half and with her senses dulled she can't go into shock so the only thing that can kill her is blood loss and blood loss can take some time...a lot of time in this case apparently.

This is probably a reference to the fact that leeches and other similar parasite secrete an anesthetic so you don't even feel them biting/latching onto you.

Rather it’s a reference to the “tentacle pit” trend, where the aforementioned pit numbs the lower half of the victim so it doesn’t feel the processes the tentacles undergo. Usually it’s of a sexual nature, but Mado turned it on it’s head.
