    I believe Japan has laws against glamorizing drug and alcohol use in children's media, hence Jamie's "Not Sake." (Those Japanese kids start a war on their livers as soon as they enter college, so these laws aren't very effective.)

    Meanwhile all those booze in One Piece, Yuu Yuu Hakusho, Dragonball, Naruto, Sailor Moon, etc. and even Pokemon (before dub changes). Jamie's ambiguous not-baijiu is probably Capcom preemptively adhering to perceived Western taboos instead of their own.

    Booze and cigarettes are fine in JP "children's" media so long as it's not underage drinking or smoking. Though some series will take the piss out of this by depicting underage people drinking what is obviously booze but calling it "juice" (like that scene in Shokugeki in Souma where the got pissed-off drunk from home-brewed booze).

    Notice how theses are all shows from the 90s, and OP that get away with it due to having been doing this since the 90s, and being so removed from modern japanese day society that people don't mind. That was more than 20 years ago.
    In the 2010's there have been a change in legislation about representation of minor drinking alcohol in general, but also alcohol in general. Not only that, but Manga (and until the 2000s/2010, anime) have a tendency to get away from lot more than other media (that's why the Anime adaptation of Grand Blue Dreaming aged the character to 21 while the mangas just have them drink despite being underage by japanese law). Hence calling clearly alcoholic beverages juices or herbal tea.
    Depending on how it is used, the use of alcohol in video game bump the age rating in Cero (japan video-games rating system) significanly more than in the ESRB or PEGI.
    The west (especially Europe) is more lenient and Japanese devs knows that. It's one hundred percent due to their own rules.
