Something in the formatting of that last post messed up the translator's notes, so I'll have to put them here: The scrawled out symbol is 死 "shi", which is the difference between "kei", a penalty, and "shikei", the death penalty. But because "I decided to deliver the death penalty" sounds awkward, I went with "I decided to deliver capital punishment." instead.
And if anyone more experienced than me with note formatting can get rid of the odd line break between "deliver" and "capital", and then "capital" and "punishment", it'd look a lot better.
