What made her so popular?
I assume you haven't played the game (or specifically Vol3 of the story) yet? The Trinity and Arius section of the story puts her quite strongly in the spotlight, not only having her joining in in the roller coaster of a plotline, but also giving her a few memeable moments (such as being threatened to be force fed Swiss Rolls by Nagisa, as well as breaking through solid walls with physical strength alone). And she is Sensei's (our) princess, after all.

I just finished Vol 3 right now. I just had to choose the princess option line, too. She really gets a lot more time under the spotlight than the rest of the Tea Party.

Even before her debut (becoming usable in game), Mika is POPULAR that a lot of players where begging and praying that she gets released. Combined with her genki personality and her importance to the story where amongst this.
Bonus she is pretty much a meta unit. When Maki isn't enough to punch a Binah, Mika will.
