Putting jokes aside, I imagine the political climate of the issue in Japan is slightly more subdued, given that most Japanese people are unlikely to check out the English side of social media, and in turn, seeing the climate as it is internationally.

Yes and no. While it's nowhere near as jingoistic as American Twitter, there's still Anti-Russian sentiment making the rounds, partly because of the Northern Islands never really being resolved. Also, I already know of at least one artist's OC character being retconned from half-Russian to half-Scandinavian, and I suspect the Bulgarian heroine of Love Flops was supposed to be Russian until February of 2022... Also, I've seen people in Japan claim that there are people who see Pravda from GuP as problematic now (despite the fact that Ukraine was also part of the USSR, with Zelenskyy's grandpa fighting in the Red Army in WWII).

Damn, that's wild on the OC and on Pravda. And thinking back, I imagine the whole "Putin planned on attacking Japan before Ukraine" leak from late last year also didn't help. I imagine things are not looking nice for the non-political Russophiles in Japan, like Alisa's seiyuu, Sumire Uesaka. Actually, thinking about it, didn't she receive criticism last year for her Russophilia?

I think she did, although I don't remember seeing any posts about it on online boards or any media outlets, I remember it being brought up on an ANN post not long after the invasion began.

I can personally attest to seeing anti-Russian sentiment in Japanese social media, it's more common on 2chan than Twitter by far though. I saw a lot of it when I looked at 2chan but have barely come across it on Twitter or other forms of social media to be fair. 2chan will be 2chan though.

The world might as well cancel all other openly Russian stuff (e.g. DCS which lets players fly russian hardware) if that's a thing LOL idk.. I guess Kadokawa thinks most of their target audience are mature enough to keep two things, politics/real world issues & entertainment separate.
