The Thing is holding a smartphone with a nondescript image of a person. Wonder if this is the kind of world where under stressful situations, people would warp into monstrous things a la Library of Ruina/L corp and the police have to deal with them. By the looks of it, maybe some of them have better control than others. Or maybe it's a different kind of commentary altogether where odd people try and fail to fit in public.

Or maybe it's something benign such as the artist's wanting to entertain the thought of having monstrous beings in otherwise contemporary settings.
