I would really enjoy a subtle yandere. Liek they never go full psycho eyes and threaten you, but they’ll have blink-and-youll-miss-it references and implications, and absolutely will not let you go.

Considering Pokemon can get surprisingly dark in canon I wouldn't be surprised if the developers where having a little fun with her by making her Yandere-lite. And it is a fun idea to be honest.

There's also a video where if you pick No to being "Best Rivals" she keeps making you reselect until she's going "YOU! ME! RIVALS! YES!" then it loops after that until you pick yes.
