The gun looks kind of nice, but I can't wrap my head around the foreend (?) Why not just make a full length handguard instead of sticking what looks like a pistol slide on the barrel?

Shorter barrels in combination with grips like that, I believe, are meant to allow for better handling in close quarters. If you're talking about the grip between the magazine and the flashlight attachment. Might be a bit of a depth perception issue where it looks like that's attached to the side rather than underneath but, I believe it's meant to be attached underneath.

No, I mean the muzzle of the gun. The black thing could just be a really large compensator, but it looks a lot like the slide of a pistol if you ask me.
But the depth perception really screw with how I see the foregrip. It does look like being mounted parallel to the handguard.

I'm assuming its probably something like an electromagnetic launcher or a really fancy barrel shroud
