Always acting in character and not streaming for 3+ hours a day gives her enough of a niche among agency VTubers to make such a huge growth reasonable. I find it weirder how Gura had such a massive growth when she started out.

Still, that's insane growth even for a vtuber standard. Even Gura who has a wider audience took a month to reach a million sub. So, I don't know if there's other factor behind it other than the "kiss my ass" clip.

There are few factors. Good and well drawn memes (and micro mangas) can be great initial attractor, that was like that for me. Then there are the clippers, as good clip of a person can magnify their channel pretty substantially if said clips hit just the right way and explode.
It has happened plenty of times before. Ofc, it is easy to gain audience if you are lucky like that but a lot harder to keep said audience. Interest fallout is pretty common thing and considering how the youtube algorithm operates, an actual dangerous one for many channels.
