Article 39 of the Geneva Conventions, Section 2:

It is prohibited to make use of the flags or military emblems, insignia or uniforms of adverse Parties while engaging in attacks or to shield, favour, protect or impede military operations.

The worst part was that this wasn't the first time in Ace Combat 7. It's highly implied after this mission that this same tactic was what incarcerated Trigger for the death of President Harling.

The drone fighters had Osean markings so in this case it isnt even a question.
