There isn't any reason to react with this level of hostility. The question was clearly posed because they didn't know whether or not to add it. People just doing things without asking causes a lot more problems than someone checking in first.

Fuck that noise. Inexperienced users have a long history of silently breaking things on this site because they have no idea what they're doing. It's all too easy to unwittingly create a new tag or change a tag type or vandalize a wiki without realizing what's happened.

We need more users like OP, who realize when they're in over their head and ask for assistance figuring things out. And fewer users who turn into raging assholes over being asked a simple question.

TBF, the average builder has no idea what they're doing either, and are usually the ones responsible for tags being flooded with mistags, especially since they have access to a few tools new users don't that make mass updating a tag with garbage significantly faster and easier.
