The racehorse Twin Turbo has a tendency to build up a massive lead for nearly the entire stretch of a race... only to tire out near the end of the race and finishing in the bottom half. The horse became a meme for it, and whenever he slows down, fans will start screaming all sort of aeronautical/automotive jokes (because of his name) like “Twin Turbo is stalling!”, "Twin Turbo is reverse thrusting!", "Twin Turbo is engaging retrorockets!", and so on.

This has also carried on to his uma counterpart, especially among fan artists.

Edit: One of the best examples can be seen in the 1994 Arima Kinen. Note how Twin Turbo (blue hood) outran all the other horses near the beginning and maintained a huge lead (up to 10 horse lengths) over most of the race. Not even Narita Brian (shadow roll over nose) could keep up, despite being three years younger. Then Turbo "reversed thrust" at around 1:55 and slowed down immensely allowing the rest of the pack to catch up. Turbo later finished last place at 13th (not counting Matikanetannhauser, who was withdrawn before the race).

Narita Brian finished 1st; 2nd was Hishi Amazon and 3rd was Rice Shower.
