Yeah, maybe not the best armor and weapon placement when riding a horse.
This was actually how lighter cavalry operated during the era of Pike and Shot Warfare and frankly, is actually the best combination (aside from a pistol in the boot). She would with other riders, ride at the enemy and fire their wheellock pistols as they ride caracole. This way you pin down the enemy with repeat fire until they are weak enough for you to charge and finish them with swords... or keep them pinned until further notice.
