Idk why but to have the rigging as a walking animal on their back makes me laugh at the thought of the rigging just running off to do something else like a dog on the leash as the ship girl gets fucking dragged along with it

Considering the legs' positions, I'd say it's a lindwyrm. Wyverns have 2 back legs, while lindwyrm legs are at the front, the position of the "arms".
