I think it's worth mentioning that "animal way" is one of the six samsara realms (aka six ways or six paths for you Naruto fans out there) which consists of: heaven (way of devas), life as a demigod (way of asuras), life in starvation (way of pretas), life as a beast (way of tiryagyonis), life as a human (way of manusyas), hell (way of naraka).
